A 4 STAR CENTER

WHERE YOUNG'UNS CAN BE YOUNG'UNS

"I will let them be little, fill their hearts with laughter, help them grow wings, nurture

their sense of wonder, inspire them to believe, and love them like there is no tomorrow."

NATURAL PLAY & DEVELOPMENT

The most important years of brain development are the first three years of a child’s life (www.zerotothree.org).

All children from birth to 5 years of age learn and develop by using their senses. Outside there are many different and wonderful things to arouse their senses to foster every area of development. They see (animals, birds, and green leafy plants), they hear (wind rustling through leaves, a robin’s song), they smell (fragrant flowers, and the rain soaked ground), they touch (a fuzzy caterpillar or bark on a tree), and even taste (newly fallen snow or raindrops on their tongue). The outdoor environment fosters important lifelong skills such as positive social/emotional interaction, language, and communication (White, J. (2010). Every interaction, every experience they have turns on their brain in every area of brain development in turn enhancing ALL developmental areas (UMKC, 201

Natural Outdoor Learning Environments (OLE) are always ever changing. Thanks to The Natural Learning Initiative and our commmunity, we got our feet on the ground in 2018 to provide an OLE where every classroom can go outside at one time.

There is a wish list of unique materials and/or labor that are always appreciated from families and community in the upkeep of our OLE.

Please stop by to take a tour of our OLE to view the important learning through play
